It has come to our knowledge, through various newspapers and the testimony by the victim’s family, that Barrister Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem (Arman), who is a respected member of Bangladesh Supreme Court Bar Association, was arrested by civilian dressed men claiming to be members of law enforcement agencies on 9th August 2016 at 11 pm at night from his residence at Mirpur DOHS.

Barrister Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem (Arman) is a regular practitioner of the Supreme Court. He achieved his Bar-at-law degree from Lincoln’s Inn in the year 2007. Before that he completed his LLB Hons graduation under University of London in 2005. After returning to Bangladesh, he achieved his status as an Advocate on 30th of December 2010. He became a proud member of Supreme Court Lawyers Association on February 16, 2012. As a Supreme Court lawyer, his association membership number is 4562.

Despite the presence of a clear order by the High Court not to harass him, the arrest of Barrister Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem (Arman) without any specific charges or any arrest warrant is a matter of grave concern to us. Such an unwarranted arrest under the rule law is clear violation of a court order by the law enforcement agencies and cannot be supported under any circumstance.

Bangladesh Supreme Court Lawyers Association strongly demand the immediate release of its respected member Barrister Mir Ahmad Bin Quasem (Arman) from the custody of the law enforcement forces.

Barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon,

Secretary,

Bangladesh Supreme Court Lawyer Association
